Recipe: Ginger Detox Drink and Orange Blossom Truffles

Healthy Morning Drink


Good morning! 

Well if you are like me, you are excited about the better weather, which means, picnics in the park, trips to the beach, hiking in the mountains.... all of a sudden we show more parts of our bodies and we wonder if we look ok  and we believe we should most probable loose a little weight. 
Well I do, always gain a few pounds during Winter. The good thing is though, again, as for me. I am more outside when the weather is better, longer walks and such of course help you get back in shape as well. One thing that helps me out and that I have every morning, not only for the sake of loosing a bit weight but also because it is a healthy habit and gives me energy, is a green tea with ginger, mint, turmeric, honey and fresh lemon juice. At first I found the ginger so strong in taste but I got so used to it that I now look forward to prepare and drink this tea, because I came to love it much!

Lots of health benefits: 


Ginger helps reduce flatulence, helps with nausea and is anti-inflammatory. Mint is an anti-oxidant that helps with stomach cramps and acidity, anti-bacterial and and anti-inflammatory. Tumeric rootpowder (curcuma longa) is disinfecting and anti-inflammatory. Honey prevents cancer and heart disease, is anti bacterial and anti-oxidant, reduces cough and throat irritation. Green tea prevents cancer, is anti-oxidant and helps with fat loss.

Detox and have more energy!

Directions

I use loose leaf green tea that I add to a tea my tea infuser but you could use green tea bags too.
furthermore add a tablespoon of honey, juice of half a large lemon or 1 small lemon,  fresh mint leaves, a teaspoon of powdered turmeric and a few slices of fresh ginger. Add all this to your tea cup and pour hot water over it, let stand for a little while, not to long though and enjoy!

Orange Blossom Truffles


Ok, I brought home so much ginger the other day that I use for my daily healthy tea but today I decided to use it in truffles, to enjoy with a cup of coffee later on today.


Ingredients


1 cup of cream cheese
1 tablespoon fresh grated ginger
3 tablespoons fresh orange juice
1 teaspoon orange zest
a few drops of orange blossom water
4 tablespoons honey
around 12 crumbled cookies (I used petit beurre)

Cacao powder for dusting.


Directions

Just combine all the ingredients but the cacao powder and mix well.
Place in the fridge for about an hour. 
Remove and roll into little balls . 
Roll truffles in cacao powder and refrigerate a little more.
