Rose Syrup

Something with roses again.
Remember I got so many petals the other day when I was preparing the white chocolate rose truffles? Today, on my morning walk I picked some poppy flowers. Went home and prepared a rose syrup. A quick and easy thing to do, but now I need patience as it will have to wait for at least one month. It will be ready to use right on time though. It's getting warmer here everyday, but then it will be hot here and we'll be then able to prepare some refreshing drinks and cocktails.
Oh I can't wait!

the white parts at the bottom of the rose petals

As I said this is so simple!

15 - 20  pink roses ( those with a nice scent)
5 - 6 poppy flowers
6 teaspoons citric acid`

`It is a natural preservative which occurs naturally in citrus fruits and

is also used to add an acidic or sour taste to foods and drinks.

Remove the white parts at the bottom of the rose petals.
Remove the black parts of the poppy petals.
Wash the petals well and place them in a jar.
Add the citric acid and fill up with water.
Close the jar tightly.

After one month your syrup will be ready!

Use in drinks and cocktails.

Refreshing drink:
Add 1 1/2 tablespoon of syrup to a glass of water.
Add sugar and ice.

I'll be back with my jar of syrup when it's ready!

Note: I got this recipe out of an old Turkish cookbook where it is called
"Gül  Şurubu" which means Rose Syrup. Well no sugar is added here so maybe it should be called Rose Water. However, when you'll use the mixture in a drink you will be adding the sugar. I didn't want to change anything about it, this is why this footnote,
